Kuala Sepetang Mother of the Earth
Mangrove forest

Kuala Sepetang retains the largest area of mangroves in the Malay Peninsula, and was not affected by the 2004 tsunami because of the buffer protection of the mangroves. The mangroves here breed 28 true mangrove plants, 19 mammals, 155 bird species, 112 fish species, 50 crab species, 3 firefly species and 20 shrimp species. It is an extremely important natural ecological reserve. In addition, the mangroves in Sepetang also provide a stable source of raw materials for the local charcoal industry.
