2018 【My Dream Shibading Library】 Little Architects Holiday Workshop
In conjunction with the teachers and students of the Department of Architecture of Tamkang University in Taiwan who came to Kuala Sepetang for a multi-day community space renovation internship plan, a special 2-days holiday workshop called as "My Dream Sepetang" was conducted for young architects. The main purpose of the workshop was to let 23 children who often come to the library to listen to stories and put forward their expectations of the library and design their desired library. The workshop started with picture books of "Miss Moore", "Library Secret", "Library Lion" and "Library Bus Doodle" to strengthen children's knowledge, concepts and understanding of libraries. In the "My Dream 18th Library" session, after the children drew and shared their dream 18th Library graphic design, they were divided into three groups according to their age, and students from Tamkang, Taiwan led and accompanied them to make a three-dimensional library design. The Little Architect Workshop was to arrange the children to bind the wooden boards and apply the primer. After drilling the five-piece square board, the children then turned them into a multi-purpose chair, small table or small bookcase. Drilling, installing, sanding boards, and sitting in rows for primer are the most anticipated and exciting activities in the workshop. The whole space was filled with the sound of woodworking machinery and the laughter of children. After the little architect's work was completed, the next step was to paint the chairs with the parents during the school holidays in September and December, guided by Teacher Peifen and Tian Ying.
