2015 "Look! Port Weld - The First Ecological Experience Camp"
From June 11th to 12th, the 2-day "Look! Port Weld - Explore Nature” ecological experience camp was held in the Kuala Sepetang Mangrove Education Center. The objective was to lead the children to experience and explore our mother nature, understand the beauty and mystery of Kuala Sepetang, and understand the importance of ecological environment maintenance and conservation. In the camp, the children were taught how to take photos, dyed cloth from mangrove bark and made necklaces from clam shells using local materials, and other environmentally friendly handicraft activities. Ecological researcher Wu Yongzhen gave two lectures: "The Story of Mangroves" and "Glowing Fireflies", introducing the rich natural ecology of mangroves, small animals, and various characteristics and types of mangroves. We also took the children to see fireflies by boat to deepen the childrens' understanding and conservation of fireflies, and how to get close to nature. In addition, we visited Kuala Sepetang's cultural industry charcoal kiln. The children learned about the close relationship between the mangrove forest and the charcoal kilns, and then went to the scene to observe the production process of each charcoal kiln, and sketched it out on the spot. In addition, 41 primary school students planted viviparous seedlings as souvenirs for the graduation ceremony.
